Troubleshooting Steps
Please, complete all 5 steps to correctly setup Emails notifications
Note: Remember to apply and save all your changes before leaving the screen where you are working on.
- Make sure the system has an Internet connection. For Network Connection Issues visit this link HDA10 Series: Network Connection Issues
- If your system is connected to the Internet but Email Notifications are delayed or they are still not received, you need to check the Email Notifications Settings.
NOTE: For Email Notifications delays issue, please, consider that email clients take a time to send emails and receive them based in your internet connections, since emails must go through servers and email clients through verification protocols, hence this will not be an automated real-time notification to your email like push notifications are.

Please, follow the next steps to set the email notifications on your HDA10 Series DVR:
- Go to DVR Main Menu (You may need to log in after this step)
- General Tab will appear by default, on this Tab select Network sub-tab
- On Network sub-tab, select Email. On this screen, you will be able to set up email notifications.
- After filling all the fields, click on Test Email to verify your Email Notifications Setup.
Next list are the fields you must fill-in to receive email notifications and what do you have to put in each field.
- Email: Enable or Disable email alerts based on your alarm settings.
- SSL: Enable or Disable to send encrypted email alerts.
- SMTP Port: The access point for your email determined by your email service provider.
- SMTP Server: This is the mail server address of your email provider. This information is determined by your email provider.
- Sender: The email address that will send email alerts.
- Sender Password: The password for the email address provided in Sender
- Receiver: The email address that will receive the email alerts.
- Interval: Set the duration of sending emails for multiple alerts.
Once the email configuration is done, click on “Test Email” button and you should receive a test email to the email address you enter on Receiver field.
Note: At the end of this document, you can find the most common Email Providers Settings.
- Email Schedule
If you are having the issue that “Email notifications are received but only in determined days and hours” is maybe because you have a wrong configuration in the email notifications schedule.
Note: By default, this feature is set to send 24/7 email notifications
- Go to DVR Main Menu (You may need to log in after this step)
- General Tab will appear by default, on this Tab select Network sub-tab
- On Network sub-tab, select Email Schedule.
On this screen, Select Motion or System Event above the calendar and click the corresponding green or red boxes; you can highlight multiple boxes by left clicking and dragging. Highlighted boxes represent days and times in which emails will be sent. "Motion" refers to alerts sent when cameras are triggered by motion and System Event refers to events such as video loss or memory conflicts.
- Email notifications enabled on alarms and DVR events
If your system has an internet connection, you have already set up the email notifications, you already schedule when receiving email notifications but you are still having the problem that “Email notifications are received but only for determined alarms and events” It’s because you must enable email notifications option for the alarms or events that you want to receive.
5.1 Received email notifications for Motion Detection Alarms (this feature is enabled by default)
- Go to DVR Main Menu (You may need to log in after this step)
- General Tab will appear by default, on this Tab select Alarms sub-tab
- On Alarms sub-tab, make sure Send email is selected with a check mark. You must check each channel individually.
5.2 Received email notifications for other DVR events (this feature is enabled by default)
- Go to DVR Main Menu (You may need to log in after this step)
- On the main menu, go to Advanced Tab and click on Events sub-tab
- On Events sub-tab, make sure Send Email option is selected with a check mark for the different event types. (Disk Full, Disk Error, and Video Loss)
5.3 Received email notifications for other DVR events (this feature is disabled by default)
- Right-click anywhere on the screen and the drop-down menu will appear
- Click on Main Menu (You may need to log in after this step)
- Go to the Configuration option
- In Configuration option, select System Events Tab
- Once in System Events Tab, select Send Email option for the different event types(HDD Full, HDD Error, Network Disconnected, etc.)
NOTE: After completing all 5 STEPS, you should be able to receive Email Notifications from your Security System

Most common Email Providers Settings
- GMAIL
- Gmail Server Address: smtp.gmail.com
- Port: 465 or 587
- Requires SSL: Yes
- Sender: Your complete Gmail address
- Password: Password of your email
Important!!!
As a security policy, Google may block the access to your Gmail Account from an external APP and you must allow the access to use Gmail as a sender email.
To change your settings to allow less secure apps to access your Google account follow these steps:
- Go to Sign-in & security in My Account.
- Locate the "Allow Less secure apps" section
- Next to "Allow Less secure apps" select Turn on.
You should receive a notice in your Gmail mailbox and just click the link “allowing access to less secure apps” to allow the DVR to use your Gmail as the sender email client. You must Turn on this option to use your email account.
- Yahoo Mail
- Yahoo Server Address: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
- Port: 465 or 587
- Requires SSL: Yes
- Sender: Your Yahoo email address
- Password: You need to generate a password to use it on the DVR
To use Yahoo Mail as a sender email, you cannot use the same password you usually use to log in. You need to generate an app password from a desktop browser.
Before you can generate an app password, you must either turn on two-step verification or enable Yahoo Account Key.
- Sign in and go to your Account security page.
- Click Generate app password or Manage app passwords.
- Select your app from the drop-down menu and click Generate.
- Follow the instructions below the password. (use this password as Sender Password on your DVR’s email notification setup)
- Click Done.
- iCloud Mail
- iCloud Server Address: smtp.mail.me.com
- Port: 587
- Requires SSL: Yes
- Sender: Your iCloud email address
- Password: You need to generate a password to use it on the DVR
Note: To generate and use app-specific passwords, your Apple ID must be protected with two-factor authentication.
To generate an app-specific password follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
- In the Security section, click Generate Password below App-Specific Passwords.
- Follow the steps on your screen.
After you generate your app-specific password, enter it into the password field of the DVR
- Hotmail/Live Email
- Hotmail/Live.com Server Address: smtp.live.com
- Port: 465/587
- Requires SSL: Yes
- Sender: Hotmail/Live.com email address
- Password: Your normal password for Hotmail/Live.com email
- AOL Email
- AOL Server Address: smtp.aol.com
- Port: 587
- Requires SSL: Yes
- Sender: AOL email address
- Password: Your normal password for Aol.com email
- Outlook.com
- Outlook.com Server Address: smtp-mail.outlook.com
